Ritz Carlton finds new home at Tucson's Dove Mountain

Looks like Tucson is on it's way to the big time! The Arizona Daily Star reported today that Marana's Dove Mountain will be the new home to a Ritz Carlton hotel and spa. The luxury resort will include 325 residences, two signature Jack Nicklaus golf courses and a 250 room hotel and spa. The golf courses and residences are slated for completion in January 2009, with the hotel scheduled to be complete by Fall 2009.
Dove Mountain is a master planned community in Marana that's located at the base of the Tortolita Mountains. The Dove Mountain community has really exploded in the last few years as new home and retail development continues to draw more residents to the area. A wide variety of homes are available in Dove Mountain, with starter homes from the low $200's to homes in Active Adult communities and multi million dollar estates.

Lewis Management has allowed Dove Mountain to evolve into a slum. The primary reason is “Lewis Management” the supposed “HOA” for the area is not doing their job. Venture down to the end of Peaceful Dove Place and look at 5611 Peaceful Dove Place and you will see the beginnings of a slum and your property values dropping. Rampant WEEDS all over the place, trees not trimmed and roof tiles missing. Adjacent common areas not kept up. Obviously there is no sense of obligation to the community and neighbors by the current residents. You can see from the place that this is not just a sudden happening but is a result of our HOA allowing this to happen in the first place. I called Lewis Management and all I got from them was that it is noted already that the home is in violation. That is such a joke as it does nothing to resolve the conditions that are dragging our property values down.
Lewis Management has also allowed rampant weeds to grow on the foot path to the west side of the Villages. This is not just an aesthetic concern but a safety concern as that walk way is a fire brake should the desert catch fire and be pushed along with wind from the west.
Lewis Management has also allowed the concrete wash on the west side of the Villages to be torn up and become a safety hazard for kids on bikes and skate boards as the expansion joints have developed into torn up areas with chunks of missing concrete. Currently the cracks are filled with sand awaiting a monsoon rain to scour and undermine the concrete further.
Lewis Management is allowing our road ways to deteriorate. Water valves are supposed to be level with the adjacent pavement. Yet one only has to see on the street at 5579 Dove of Peace Drive this is not being addressed. Once again a safety hazard for kids playing.
I really wonder what I am supposed to get for my HOA dues?

Hi Gil,

I understand your frusturation with your HOA managment company. I serve on the HOA board in my own community and we switched from Lewis Management because we felt they weren't taking care of a lot of issues. I've met homeowners in other communities that work with and like Lewis Management. I wish you luck!

The Residences at Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain are open now and they are stunning homes. We were at the resort recently and walked over to take a look at The Residences. We were more than impressed with the design, style, views and amenities. After playing golf on the Jack Nicklaus golf course my husband said we should consider it for a second home. Hopefully we'll be visiting again soon!
